How To Include Your Pet In Your Wedding Day

Have a furry best friend that you absolutely CAN’T live without?

Weddings are amazing because you are surrounded by your closest family and friends - but what about your pet???

I totally LOVE when my couples incorporate their pets into their wedding day - since your pet is such a big part of your family, it’s hard to leave them out on such an important day.  But how do you even go about making your pet part of your day - without everything getting crazy stressful?!?!

Decide how/when your pet will be a part of your day.

Your pet doesn’t have to attend your ENTIRE wedding to be a part of your day!  Decide how you want your pet to be incorporated - they can walk down the aisle with you or as a flower girl/ring bearer.  Or they can just be a part of your family or couple portraits - you can even have a sweet first look with them (and a guaranteed cry from me)!

Appoint someone to take care of your pet/bring them when you need them.

YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE IN CHARGE OF YOUR PET ON YOUR WEDDING DAY!  Choose a close friend or family member, preferably not someone in the wedding party (since they need to be with you), that is comfortable taking care of your pet.  Make sure they know when and where your pet needs to be during your wedding day, and also ensure they have the time and means to transport your pet. You can also hire someone, like a pet sitter, to help out as well - that way, you don’t have any family or friends missing part of your day!

Make sure to groom and dress them up!

Make sure your pet has had a fresh grooming (don’t want to get anything dirty) for their closeup!  Also, having them wear something special - anything from a cute bowtie to an elaborate flower collar/wreath to match your bouquet!!!

I wish I had our dogs before we got married because pets are SO fun to incorporate in your wedding day - even just for a few minutes during portraits!  Don’t be afraid to try this out for your wedding - I promise, the memories will be totally worth it :)
