Family photos are some of the MOST IMPORTANT moments that you can capture on a wedding day - but how can you efficiently get wedding family photos taken without wasting time?

For myself, putting together a structured system for family photos pre-wedding day has made a WORLD of a difference for my couples.  When I first started out, it would take SO LONG to get everyone organized, and I would often forget some groupings that were important - like even the bride and her mother!!!

Now, I do the following to get immediate AND extended family photos done within 30 minutes on a wedding day - making everyone less stressed and ready to keep celebrating.

Give Your Couples A List of Family Photo Pairings to Edit Themselves Pre-Wedding Day

About a month before their wedding day, I will send out my pre-wedding questionnaire to my couples, including a pre-made list of standard family photo pairings (bride + mother, bride + groom + siblings, etc.) that they can edit, remove, and add to themselves.  This way, we can all have a plan going into the wedding day of EXACTLY what photos you need to take.

Talk to Your Couples About Limiting Extended Family Photos

Extended family photos are such a great keepsake, but they can often take a long time trying to organize and keep track of everyone.  I encourage my couples to keep their extended family photos limited to 5-7 groupings, as any more usually ends up taking more than 15 minutes.  If a couple does want a TON of extended family photos, I would suggest talking to them about adding some more time to their day.

Find A Family Member to Help You Out

On the wedding day, you are most likely surrounded by family members during family photo time that are MORE than willing to give a helping hand.  Find someone who seems outgoing enough to shout out names and who would likely know most of the family members.  Make sure they have a copy of the list, and have them stick close to you and help grab who you need next for photos.

Guys, I can’t even tell you HOW impressed my couples and their families are when we fly through their photos with such ease!  It’s so much less stress for ME and THEM when we have a plan going into their wedding day - and it’s so easy to implement!

Try out these simple tips and see how much they transform how quickly and effortlessly taking wedding family photos :)
